Hibiscus is a large genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. The genus comprising 434 species, which are renowned for their large, showy flowers. Chinese hibiscus is the most common species of hibiscus and is grown as an ornamental hedge in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. Besides Hibiscus species can be used for not only ornamental value but also medicinal properties, even one species of Hibiscus is extensively used in paper-making.
To provide a functional genomics hub for the Hibiscus and the plant community, we developed a user friendly database named the Hibiscus plant genome database (HGPDB). We collected the genomes of 3 species(Hibiscus cannabinus, Hibiscus syriacus and Hibiscus mutabilis) which all genus in Hibiscus with whole genome sequence and transcript data in NCBI ,EMBL-EBI and sequencing from Chengdu Botanical Garden. HGPDB provides users with some commonly used tools, including a variety of search, BLAST, expression heatmap, batch download, etc.
