Perennial monocarpic flowering S. biocullata

Introduction.

Strobilanthes biocullata Y. F. Deng & J. R. I. Wood is the first Chinese species of Strobilanthes Blume reported to have a plietesial life history. Which is known to flower in July–September and to fruit in October–December after an eight-year of vegetative growth, and dies after the mast seeding (Deng et al., 2010).

Recently, we sequenced the full-length and strand-specific transcriptome of S. biocullata, using PacBio Iso-seq and Illumina RNA-seq technology, which resulted in 104.3 Gb Iso-seq reads, and 75 Gb RNA-seq reads from leaves and shoot apical tissues in two developmental stages. The sampled plants were collected and transplanted from Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, China, to Kunming Botanical Garden (KBG) in the campus of KIB-CAS.
